According to the Canadian Coast Guard, St. Lawrence River water levels have decreased considerably in recent days with further regression forecast. As a result, ocean freight carriers utilizing the St. Lawrence plan to reduce vessel capacities and apply weight restrictions in order to manage the situation. In addition, carriers will soon implement a Low Water Surcharge for all cargo loading or discharging at the Port of Montréal.
SPARX logistics will continue to monitor this situation and keep our customers apprised of the latest developments, including the exact amount and timetable for the surcharge once announced. In the meantime, if you have questions or concerns related to specific shipments, please feel free to contact your SPARX representative.
