According to multiple media outlets, Tropical Storm Hermine made landfall near St. Marks, Florida around 1:30AM EDT on September 2, 2016. Though the system is weakening, its impact on Georgia, Florida and the Carolinas is expected to continue through Friday night. A tornado watch remains in effect until 4PM EDT for coastal areas of Georgia, South Carolina and southeast North Carolina, and the threats of heavy rain, strong winds and storm surge flooding remain in play.
Due to Hermine, the Ports of Savannah and Brunswick preemptively closed for operations on September 2 and the Port of Charleston has announced that it will close today at noon. Remnants of the storm are expected to impact the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states throughout Labor Day weekend, with a tropical storm watch in place for parts of New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and Virginia.
