According to Xinhua News Agency, Typhoon Kalmaegi has impacted nearly 6 million people in South China since making landfall on September 16. Direct and indirect affects have included closures/delays to 548 highways, 12 railways and 28 airports and ports, as well as the collapse of 1,600 houses. High winds, heavy rain and flooding are expected to persist through September 19 in some parts of Guangdong, Hainan Island, Guangxi and Yunnan.
Despite the widespread damage, no major delays to transportation activities have been reported.
